Coast Mountains School District is pleased to share the following leadership staffing updates in advance of the 2024-25 school year: 

Spencer Edwards - Kitimat

Spencer Edwards will again operate in a dual capacity in 2024-25, serving as both the Vice Principal of Kildala Elementary School alongside Principal Janelle Hittel, as well as servicing Indigenous learners across Kitimat schools as the Indigenous Learner Success Advisor. This work includes building trusting relationships with learners and families, identifying and removing barriers, and advocacy within each school’s circle of caring adults. As Indigenous Learner Success Advisor, Spencer will also monitor student academic performance and support learners with culturally relevant approaches to goal setting, ensuring all Indigenous learners are on track for success.

Roberta Clarke - Terrace

After a wonderful teaching and administrative career, Roberta Clarke returned to Suwilaawks Community School last August to serve as the school’s Interim Vice Principal alongside Principal Pam Kawinsky.  Roberta has played an integral role in the school’s programming this year, contributing to the success of countless learners.  I am happy to report that Roberta has agreed to stay on as Interim Vice Principal of Suwilaawks Community School for the 2024-25 school year.

Taylor Murrell - Hazelton

Taylor Murrell was appointed Interim Vice Principal at Hazelton Secondary School (HSS) for the 2023-24 school year, joining Principal Louise Ormerod and Vice Principal Jan Thorburn as the third member of the school’s administrative team. Taylor has been a wonderful addition to the HSS team, playing a key role in the school’s programming and within several initiatives.  I am pleased to share that Taylor will be remaining in the Vice Principal position for 2024-25.
