CMSD News Release - Taryn Armstrong, Vice Principal Suwilaawks Appointment

Coast Mountains School District is pleased to announce the leadership staffing appointment of Taryn Armstrong to the position of Vice Principal of Suwilaawks Community School.

Currently a Classroom Teacher at Suwilaawks Community School, Taryn will assume her new position effective August 1, 2025.

A long-term employee, Taryn joined the school district on November 10, 2010.  With over a decade of experience in education, beginning as an Educational Assistant and evolving into roles as a Classroom Teacher, Literacy Lead, and a key member of the Learner Support Team, Taryn brings a deep commitment to inclusive, relationship-based leadership. 

Her academic background includes a diploma in Special Education from Coast Mountain College, a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Northern British Columbia and a Graduate Certificate in Inclusive Education from Queen’s University including extensive training in Orton-Gillingham literacy instruction. 

Taryn is deeply connected to the rhythms, values, and families of the Suwilaawks Community School.  Her belief in the shared motto ‘Find Your Passion’ shines through in all she does, from her work with students to the collaborative relationships she builds with staff and families.
