2023-2024 Leadership Staffing Update

Coast Mountains School District would like to share the following leadership staffing updates:

Darlene Bragg-Hounsell
Darlene has been appointed to the position of Principal at Cassie Hall Elementary School effective immediately. Darlene brings extensive school leadership experience to this position, having recently served as Principal at Skeena Middle School, Thornhill Primary School and Cassie Hall Elementary. Darlene is keen to return to Cassie Hall in this leadership role and is looking forward to working with staff, families and its many community partners to best meet the learning and well-being needs of every learner. Congratulations Darlene! 

Joel Ewald
Currently the Vice Principal at Suwilaawks Community School, Joel has been appointed to the position of Vice Principal at Skeena Middle School effective immediately. Joel is a passionate educator who is poised to bring a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role at Skeena. Joel is very much looking forward to joining the school’s leadership team, along with Principal Cory Killoran, and engaging with learners and staff in the coming weeks. Congratulations Joel!

Roberta Clarke
Roberta will be assuming the Vice Principal role at Suwilaawks Community School effective immediately. With 17 years of school administration experience, Roberta brings a wealth of instructional leadership to the VP position, specifically in regard to mentorship, literacy and learner support. Roberta’s continued dedication to the Suwilaawks community and the Coast Mountains School District is very much appreciated. Congratulations Roberta!


Geoff McKay
It is with regret that we announce the resignation of Geoff McKay, Principal of Northwest Trades and Employment Training Centre. Geoff joined Coast Mountains School District in 2009 as a teacher and served as District Vice Principal responsible for Trades Programs in 2015 before being appointed to Principal of NTETC in 2016. Our best wishes are extended to Geoff for every success in his future endeavors.
