CMSD82 News Release – Christine Byrd, MEMSS Principal Resignation, March 31, 2022
It is with mixed emotions that we share the resignation of Christine Byrd, Principal of Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School effective March 31, 2022. Christine and her family will be relocating to the Kootenays, where her husband has accepted a new position.
Christine worked 15 years in the independent school system prior to joining Coast Mountains School District in September 2012 in a teaching position at Kildala Elementary School. She rose to the positions of Vice Principal of Nechako Elementary School in March 2014 and Vice Principal of Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School in August 2018, prior to the appointment to her current position in August 2019.
Coast Mountains School District extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Christine for her service and for the significant and valuable contributions made over the past 9 years. Christine has demonstrated exemplary leadership in serving as the Principal at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School. The reputation she has developed as a respected educator, leader and highly competent team player will continue to complement Christine in any role she chooses to take on.
We commend Christine for her dedicated leadership, inspiration and deep commitment to all students and their success, most particularly at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School, a much beloved and integral part of the community of Kitimat.
In the interim, the school district is actively seeking a new Principal for Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School and will be conducting a Canada-wide search beginning this week.
Our very best wishes are extended to Christine for every success in her future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Janet Meyer
Superintendent of Schools
