The Facilities Team provides an excellent learning environment for students and staff of the Coast Mountains School district by providing sustainable facilities and services that foster the personal best of our students. Services utilizing the most cost-effective methods, while allowing for innovation and use of “best practices” are provided. Technology has been integrated wherever possible to assist with tasks including the word order system, tracking and scheduling work and install, maintaining and troubleshooting systems.
The Facilities Department has a great number of responsibilities which encompass the following school district areas:
Operations – Cleaning of schools and other buildings.
Maintenance – Keeping the district’s schools and other buildings and grounds in good repair.
Capital Planning – Overseeing construction of new buildings and additions to buildings and overseeing construction projects to address seismic condition of schools.
Construction Alterations – Planning and carrying out renovations to schools
Energy Management – Initiatives to ensure district facilities are energy-efficient.
Facility Rentals/Community Use – After-hours rental of school district facilities to community groups. Bookings of facilities are coordinated through the facility’s School Principal in conjunction with the Facilities Department. Please note that a detailed Safety Plan is required for booking requests made during the COVID-19 pandemic in adherence to the Provincial COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines for K-12 Settings in coordination with the Provincial Health Officer’s guidelines.
- CMSD82 Policy 4020 – Community Use of School Facilities and Grounds
- CMSD82 2021-2022 Principal, Vice Principal & School Contact Listing

CMSD82 Long Range Facilities Plan
In January 2017 the school district engaged the services of Cascade Facilities Management Consultants Ltd. to update the school district’s Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP) in keeping with the Ministry of Education’s requirements issued June 2016 that Boards of Education develop and maintain a comprehensive school district LRFP. Maintaining a current, comprehensive LRFP that forms the basis for school districts’ capital investment decisions and aligns with best practices in asset management is a key component for district-wide capital planning, and a framework for other local programming and operational decisions.
Note that the LRFP is a Facilities Plan, not an education study of the appropriate grade structure of schools, the appropriate placement of district programs, nor the viability/desirability of neighbourhood schools.
Provided below is the 2017-2027 Long Range Facilities Plan and accompanying Schedules/Appendices for Coast Mountains School District 82:
