Coast Mountains School District 82 gives thanks, and acknowledges with respect, that the lands on which we live, work, learn and play are the traditional territories of the Gitxsan, Haisla, Nisga’a and Tsimshian Peoples.

We are honoured to work with their children, privileged to live on these lands, and recognize that the Gitxsan, Haisla, Nisga’a and Tsimshian Peoples as the keepers of their traditions and knowledge.

The District respects the traditional territories on which our schools and facilities are located, which includes the following ten First Nation Bands, where we dedicate our educational services to our First Nations, Inuit and Métis, and all children in the Coast Mountains School District.  We endeavor to increase our knowledge of local history, protocols, traditions and Indigenous languages to strengthen our relationships with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous peoples with whom we work and learn, through our words and actions.
