Schools have been approached by parents and primary caregivers who are requesting to know a student’s Personal Education Number (PEN).  This number is assigned to a student when they begin their schooling in British Columbia, and remains unchanged after that.  There are a number of ways that a parent or primary caregiver can find a student’s PEN:

  • The PEN is often included on a student’s report card.  This is the fastest and easiest way to find a PEN.
  • Contacting the student’s school.
  • Please note that in the case of a student recently-transferred to the district, the records might still be at a student’s previous school.
