CMSD82 New Release – Retirement Vice Principal, Suwilaawks Community School – July 31, 2020  (PDF Format)

Coast Mountains School District wishes to announce the retirement of Roberta Clarke, Vice Principal at Suwilaawks Community School effective July 31, 2020. Roberta has chosen to retire following 32 years as an educator. A difficult decision for her, as having had the opportunity to teach children in their formative years throughout her career has given her tremendous happiness and pleasure.

A long-term employee, Roberta joined the school district in 1991. She held various temporary primary teaching positions at Thornhill Primary School and Copper Mountain Elementary School through to June 1992. In September 1992, Roberta assumed a full-time primary teaching position at Copper Mountain Elementary School where she taught until June 2002. She accepted a primary teaching position at E.T. Kenney School in September 2002. In August 2006, Roberta was appointed to the Vice Principal position at Uplands Elementary School followed by an appointment in August 2007 to the position of Vice Principal at Suwilaawks Community School, a position she currently holds.

Roberta is highly regarded by her colleagues as a passionate educator who celebrates the uniqueness of each learner and optimizing learning opportunities for every student. She has demonstrated exemplary leadership in serving Coast Mountains School District during her twenty-nine year tenure with her enthusiasm and knowledge of Terrace/Thornhill students and families, and her reputation as an outstanding and dedicated elementary educator with deep commitment to the success of young people at the school and community level.

The school district extends its sincere thanks to Roberta for her many contributions made to learner success and for her dedication and years of service.

Our best wishes are extended to Roberta and her family in their future endeavors.

Congratulations Roberta!

Janet Meyer
Acting Superintendent of Schools
