Coast Mountains School District was delighted to host a visit of the newly appointed Ministry of Education’s Superintendent of Aboriginal Achievement, DeDe DeRose, on February 20 and 21, 2013.
During her visit, Ms. DeRose met with the Board of Education School Trustees and the District’s Education Team. Her itinerary included school visits to Cassie Hall, Caledonia Secondary and Thornhill Primary Schools which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Ms. DeRose joined the school district’s Aboriginal Education Advisory Committee Meeting where the Suwilaawks Community School multi-cultural drummers performed a welcome song and the Nisga’a Hobiyee song. First Nations Support Workers, George Peal, Colleen Morgan and Annette Wheeler, supported the multi-cultural drum group during their performance.
Ms. DeRose looks forward to visiting with us again soon.
