As the 2011-2012 school year draws to a close, it is a good time to thank all employees for their hard work and dedication to Coast Mountains’ learners and also to reflect on what we have accomplished as a school district in the past year, and to look forward to the upcoming year.
This has been an unusual school year for everyone. Despite the added distractions throughout the year, we have all continued to make good things happen in our classrooms and schools. We are proud of our academic and trades graduates, our musicians, our athletes, our artists, our cultural activities and our ability to work as a team.
It is true to say that we have already started to take action toward achieving our Shared Vision … “Coast Mountains School District shall become a high performance rural school district” with the implementation of our district goals this past school year and by using these goals as guiding criteria when formulating decisions. These goals, as provided, will continue to be a focus for the upcoming school year, re-affirming our dedication and effort for the engagement and empowerment of Coast Mountains’ learners:
- To raise literacy levels in elementary schools.
- To increase success and graduation rates for all learners.
- To challenge and engage all students, while increasing their ability to be socially responsible.
- To support staff and student growth through professional learning, networking and the sharing of wise practices.
Again – my thanks to everyone working within the school district for your contributions and commitment through 2011-2012. We look forward to moving forward with our shared work next year.
On behalf of the Board of Education I extend our best wishes to all students and staff for a wonderful summer vacation, filled with many opportunities to rest, relax, rejuvenate and refresh. We look forward to an exciting new school year, beginning on September 4th.
Please enjoy a safe summer with family and friends.
Yours sincerely,
Art Erasmus
