Coast Mountains School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Newbery to the position of Principal at Hazelton Secondary School. Mark will assume his new position on August 1, 2015.
Mark is a long-term employee with the School District and a long-term resident of Hazelton. He has held various teaching positions including a teaching assignment at Hazelton Secondary School prior to assuming his present role as Principal at Majagaleehl Gali Aks Elementary School. Mark holds a degree in Outdoor Recreation and Geography from Lakehead University, PDP qualification as a Primary School Teacher from Simon Fraser University and a Master of Arts degree in multi-disciplinary leadership from UNBC.
Mark’s teaching career has been characterized by hard work, reliability and a focus on student success. His work in schools has always portrayed an emphasis on putting students first, teamwork and building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the community. He has always shown passion in his profession, an understanding of and respect for local Gitxsan culture and history and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of the young people of Hazelton.
Coast Mountains welcomes Mark to his new role as Hazelton Secondary School Principal.
