Coast Mountains School District welcomed new District Literacy Coordinator, Anne Dopson, in early September 2013. Anne’s training is in Special Education and she has been a Learning Support Teacher at the primary, elementary, middle school and secondary levels. She has also taught Kindergarten to Grade 5 and ELD/ESL including the role of District Reading Consultant for several years.
Anne’s goal as the Literacy Coordinator for Coast Mountains School District is to achieve literacy success for all learners by helping to provide support and resources to both teachers and students. Her office is located in the First Nations Education Centre at the Suwilaawks Community School. Anne’s contact information is as follows:

To introduce herself in her new role, Anne published a newsletter entitled “The Reading Connection”. She hopes to publish a newsletter monthly to keep everyone informed about what is happening “literacy” wise in the district, as well as dates of upcoming workshops, non-instructional days, new resources, literacy tips, projects happening in the district, inspirational quotes, etc.
