An incident occurred at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School (MEMSS) this morning, September 26, where a small amount of a gas substance was spilled in a Senior Science Classroom.  At the time of the incident, there was one teacher and a few students, as it occurred as the rest of the school was departing for a scheduled Terry Fox Run.

The Kitimat Fire Department attended immediately and were quick to test the area deeming it safe for staff and students.  Air quality levels were reported as normal with no impact to the school’s air quality.

Following the Fire Department’s assessment, a school wide P.A. announcement was shared with staff and students. Classes are in session as per normal.

If you are a parent or guardian of a student at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School, please feel free to contact the school administration if you have further questions or concerns.
