Mail ballot voting will be available for all qualified electors for the By-election by Voting to elect one Trustee for Trustee Electoral Area 2 (Terrace) of Coast Mountains Board of Education School District 82 for the period of April 2021 to November 2022.

On December 21, 2020, the Board submitted a request to the BC Ministry of Education for a Ministerial Order to override the School District 82’s bylaw and the Local Government Act to allow mail-in ballots for all electors in the 2021 School Trustee By-election.  On January 15, 2021, the Board was notified that BC’s Minister of Education had approved this request and signed Ministerial Order M033 under the School Act.

  • Mail ballot voting packages will available commencing on February 17, 2021. 
  • Requests for mail ballot packages must be received before 4:00 p.m. March 4, 2021. 

Complete the CMSD82 Application to Vote by Mail and mail or email to the Administration Office of Coast Mountains Board of Education School District 82 (CMSD82), 3211 Kenney Street, Terrace, B.C. V8G 3E9.  Email no later than Tuesday, March 2, 2021 if you would like the package mailed; or not later than Thursday, March 4, 2021 if you intend to pick the package up at the CMSD82 Administration office.

If your application is filled out correctly, the Chief Election Officer will send you a mail ballot package by regular mail or your package will be made available for pick up at the CMSD82 Administration Office on or before 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2021.

Completed ballots can be returned by mail, dropped off at the Terrace Sportsplex Multipurpose room on advanced voting days and general voting day, or dropped off at the Board of Education Office at 3211 Kenney Street, Building A, during regular business hours before 4:00 p.m. March 5, 2021.  Electors with accessibility needs can call (250) 638-4401 for assistance.

Due to the potential postal delays, residents are encouraged to drop off their ballots at the Board of Education office or on the advanced voting or general voting days at the Terrace Sportsplex Multipurpose Room, if possible.  To be counted, your mail ballot must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

It is the voter’s responsibility to ensure ballots are returned on time.  Ballots received after 8:00 p.m. on March 6, 2021 will not be counted.
