CMSD82 News Release – Mike Savage Resignation, IT Manager – August 15, 2015
It is with mixed emotions that we share the resignation of Mike Savage, Manager of Information Technology effective August 15, 2015. Though Mike’s effective leadership and expertise will be sadly missed by all within the school district, we are in full support of his decision to return to Ontario to be closer to family. Mike has accepted an appointment to an information technology position with the Bluewater School District in Grey/Bruce County.
Coast Mountains School District extends its sincere thanks to Mike for his service and significant contributions made over the past 5 years in moving the Information Technology (IT) Department forward in great strides.
We commend Mike for the successful implementation of a Five-Year Desktop Refresh Program yielding tremendous benefits both in the short-term and long-term for the school district. The IT Department, under Mike’s guidance and vision, achieved many accomplishments over his tenure that included:
- a district-wide upgrade to Windows 7 and transition to Microsoft Office including a complete email migration;
- increased wireless coverage enabling educators and students to take advantage of tablet and smartphone devices;
- the completion of a new data centre in the main Board of Education Office including a full server relocation and a network redesign for the Board of Education Office Complex;
- the accomplishment of self-maintenance for core servers and storage;
- project initiation to strategically migrate existing school servers and storage to newer models.
Coast Mountains School District is now actively seeking a new Manager of Information Technology and will conduct a Canada wide search beginning this week.
Our very best wishes are extended to Mike for success in all his future endeavors.
