CMSD82 Leadership Staffing Administrative Adjustment Change

The Board of Education for Coast Mountains School District wishes to announce a change in the administrative assignment of Julia Jacobs as Vice Principal at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School and her return to Cassie Hall Elementary School as Vice Principal for the 2019-2020 school year.

This administrative change will form part of the one-year plan that will provide the opportunity to develop a collaborative leadership staffing transition for the 2020-2021 school year, while engaging mentorship opportunities for Principals and Vice Principals assuming new roles for the upcoming school year.

In her role as Vice Principal at Cassie Hall Elementary School, Julia will provide administrative support and cultural learnings in the role of Indigenous Language & Culture Teacher with the support of an Indigenous Sm’algyax speaker for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students at Cassie Hall Elementary, Suwilaawks Community and Thornhill Primary Schools. We strongly believe that this adjustment is in the best interest of the students in Terrace/Thornhill and our Indigenous partner groups and will benefit the community as a whole.

With Julia’s return to Cassie Hall Elementary School for the upcoming school year, Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School will now have one Vice Principal with full-time administration duties to be assumed by Robert Whitmell as previously announced.

Julia and the impacted School Principals were provided consultation in this matter and are in support of this administrative adjustment for the 2019-2020 school year.

We look forward to welcoming students and staff to the upcoming new school year in September to work together in ensuring continued learning success for our students, their well-being and that of our staff.

Chairperson, Board of Education
