On March 17, 2020, the Government of British Columbia suspended in-person K-12 classes in order to reduce COVID-19 infection rates.  As part of BC’s Integrated Planning Framework, the Ministry of Education outlined a Continuity of Educational Opportunities Plan.  This document is intended to work in conjunction with, and give school district specifics to the Integrated Planning Framework.  School teams will be responsible for developing plans for learning delivery.

During the suspension of in-class instruction, students will be provided with opportunities to engage in meaningful learning experiences. These experiences will continue to foster social and emotional well-being, numeracy and literacy skills and further develop their understanding of the big ideas across curricular areas.  Continuing learning for students will enable them to grow in their skills and be prepared for when we all return to classrooms.

Coast Mountains School District extends its gratitude to all its staff and families for coming together in this time of global concern.  The school district developed the following Framework for Continuity of Learning guiding document to ensure students, parents/guardians and all staff have a consistent way of continuing to provide instruction and assessment.

CMSD82 Framework for Continuity of Learning – May 2020

We recognize this situation is unprecedented and may be challenging to navigate.  We endeavor to support staff and families during these uncertain times.  Your patience and flexibility is greatly appreciated as we move forward together.

Even though we are apart … “Together We Learn”.
