CMSD82 News Release – Uplands Elementary School Principal Retirement – July 31, 2020

Coast Mountains School District wishes to announce the retirement of Pat Mouland, Principal at Uplands Elementary School effective July 31, 2020. It is with mixed feelings that we share Pat’s retirement, however, we are in full support of her decision to assume a well-deserved retirement and to spend time with her family.

Pat joined the school district in September 1987 in a teaching assignment at Mount Elizabeth Secondary School. She has held various teaching positions with the school district including the role of Vice Principal at the former Roy Wilcox Elementary School in Kitimat, at Uplands Elementary School and Cassie Hall Elementary School.

During her tenure with the school district, Pat has demonstrated strong leadership and collaboration skills to develop innovative programs to ensure the success for all learners. She is a highly respected educator by students and colleagues alike for her love of teaching and the countless hours towards the advocacy for early learning and literacy education. Her work in schools has always portrayed an emphasis on putting students first, teamwork, building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the community with an understanding of and respect for local Indigenous culture, language and history.

The school district is extremely grateful for Pat’s long-term service, her many significant contributions and the dedication she has provided over her thirty-three years of service. Pat’s legacy will be sadly missed by all within the school district including the many connections and relationships she has forged with all staff.

In early 2020, the school district will begin a process to select a new Principal for Uplands Elementary School to transition into the role effective August 1, 2020.

Our very best wishes are extended to Pat and her family in their future endeavors.

Janet Meyer
Acting Superintendent of Schools
