(News Release in PDF Format)

On April 25, 2019, the Board of Education for Coast Mountains School District 82 announced leadership staffing appointments for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Board of Education supports the role and responsibility of the Superintendent of Schools and the District Leadership Team to make staffing decisions in the best interests of those served and employed in our school district.  The appointments and assignments of Principals and Vice Principals is an important educational function.

It is important to the Board of Education that the nature of leadership staffing appointments be clarified so that there are no misunderstandings or confusion related to leadership staffing changes that occur from time to time.

Leadership staffing appointments of Principals and Vice Principals is standard practice that occurs on a regular basis throughout the school district.  Principals and Vice Principals appointed to those leadership positions are district-wide appointments and not specific to individual schools.  Decisions related to which school a Principal or Vice Principal is assigned to is based on the needs of all of our schools and consideration of the needs of all of our students.  The intent is to have positive impacts on the continued success of all our schools and the students within our school district.

Principals and Vice Principals have the option to not accept reassignment in which case the Principal or Vice Principal may opt to return to the classroom as a Teacher.

The Board of Education fully respects the voice and views of students, parents, caregivers and the public and their right to share their concerns for which we extend our appreciation for the feedback received.  Feedback and/or requests for information should be directed to the office of the Superintendent of Schools.
