CMSD82 News Release – Jocelynn Drew, Bear Valley School Principal Appointment  (PDF Format)

 

The Board of Education for Coast Mountains School District is pleased to announce the leadership staffing appointment of Jocelynn Drew to the permanent position of Principal at Bear Valley School.

Currently the Teacher in Charge at Bear Valley School, Jocelynn will assume the permanent principalship position effective May 6, 2019.

A long-term employee, Jocelynn is an experienced and knowledgeable educator who has taught at both the elementary and secondary levels during her tenure with the school district in the community of Stewart. She is a team player and a strong advocate for the success of all learners.

The school district has implemented a new WiFi solution to simplify access for users with non-district devices.

The following networks will be replaced: BYOD Staff, BYOD Student, Guest.

The new network now available for connecting your non-district devices is: CMSD-BYOD.

 

To join the new WiFi Network using a district account, please follow the instructions provided below:

  1. Open your WiFi Settings on your device.
  2. Select CMSD-BYOD.
  3. This will bring up the Captive Portal log-in page.  Note if the Captive Portal does not open automatically, open your device’s browser and it will redirect to the log-in page.
  4. Select the CMSD UserID/Password option.
  5. This will bring up the Acceptable Use Policy.
  6. Read the policy and select the I accept the terms button.
  7. This will bring up the log-in page as displayed to the right.
  8. Enter your network username and password and select the Continue button.

In preparation for the 2019-2020 school year, the Board of Education is seeking the cooperation of parents/guardians in registering their child on the following dates.  Pre-registration is requested in order to provide the School District Administration the time to plan staffing to meet school needs.

Schools are open to take registration for Kindergarten from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. between January 14, 2019 and March 15, 2019.

The School District will make every effort to place students who have registered by March 15, 2019 in their catchment area school.  Students registering after March 15, 2019 may not be granted place in their catchment area school.

2019-2020 CMSD82 New Student Registration & Cross-Boundary Application Notice  (click on link to open)

 

School District 82 Policy 1030 outlines student attendance/catchment area procedures in accordance with Ministry of Education policies on Schools of Choice.  It is important that parents take note of specific deadlines defined within this policy and ensure the procedures listed below are followed:

  1. Students must be registered at their catchment area school.
  2. Cross Boundary/Out-of-Catchment Applications:  After registering at your catchment area school, applications must be received at your school of choice by February 14, 2019 for the 2019-2020 school year.
  3. Confirmation of Cross Boundary Applications:  By the first Friday following school opening, or as soon as possible following this date, pending staffing allocations and school configurations.  Unsuccessful applicants may be held on a waiting list for the subsequent school year.  Parents/guardians applying for… Continue reading
