Following a comprehensive search process, the Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Aaron Callaghan to the position of Superintendent of Schools & CEO of Coast Mountains School District 82 effective August 1, 2022.

Having started his career in British Columbia in School District No. 60 (Peace River North), Aaron is looking forward to returning to B.C. in this new role.  He is an experienced and skilled leader, who puts the learning needs of children first.  Passionate about education, innovation, learning success and inclusivity, Aaron brings great insight, leadership and a strong commitment in his new role to make a positive difference for all students within School District 82.

With 27 years’ experience in education, he brings a broad experience base that includes the implementation of his current district’s visionary improvement plan, the coordination of an accelerated literacy skill development initiative for primary grades, and implementation of a cross-divisional learning framework focusing on Indigenous and African Nova Scotian history and culture for 3,000 regional employees.

In accepting this appointment, Aaron is eager to begin to form the relationships that will make it possible to continue the good work already taking place in the school district, while enabling him to play a key role in ensuring a strong future for Coast Mountains’ learners and schools.  Aaron shared, “I am both excited and grateful for the opportunity to return to B.C. and serve the learners and families of School District 82 as Superintendent.  Student success, well-being and inclusionary practices will continue to be at the forefront of our efforts as we implement the Board’s Strategic Plan”.
