    From creating online games to building websites, students now have access to free, live online coding workshops through the Ministry of Education website Keep Learning BC.
  • K-12 students to have optional in-class instruction on June 1 May 15, 2020
    Parents will have the choice of bringing their children back to class on a part-time basis this school year as part of BC’s Restart Plan, with the goal of returning to full-time classes in September 2020, provided it is safe to do so.

The Board of Education for Coast Mountains School District is pleased to announce the leadership staffing appointment of Jocelynn Drew to the permanent position of Principal at Bear Valley School.

Currently the Teacher in Charge at Bear Valley School, Jocelynn will assume the permanent principalship position effective May 6, 2019.

A long-term employee, Jocelynn is an experienced and knowledgeable educator who has taught at both the elementary and secondary levels during her tenure with the school district in the community of Stewart. She is a team player and a strong advocate for the success of all learners.

Jocelynn is highly regarded by her colleagues as a dynamic and innovative teacher, and her work has always been characterized by an emphasis on putting students first, teamwork and building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the community.

Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Mary’s University, a BC Professional Teaching Certification and a Bachelor of Education degree from Simon Fraser University.  Jocelynn is currently working towards her Master of Education degree through Thompson Rivers University.

Bear Valley School is a much beloved and integral part of the community of Stewart and Coast Mountains Schools District is most fortunate to have an educator of Jocelynn’s caliber assume the leadership role at this great school.
