CMSD82 News Release – 2016-2017 Leadership Staffing News – May 24, 2016  (PDF Format)

 

The Board of Education for Coast Mountains School District is pleased to announce the following leadership staffing appointments for the 2016-2017 school year effective August 1, 2016:

Director of Instruction, Aboriginal Education

Agnes Casgrain is appointed Director of Instruction, Aboriginal Education. Ms. Casgrain has demonstrated exemplary leadership in serving as District Principal, Aboriginal Education since February 1, 2014. Her extensive experience in the district and the reputation she has developed as a respectful, highly competent team player will continue to complement Ms. Casgrain in her new role. The position of District Principal, Aboriginal Education will be discontinued effective July 31, 2016.  Ms. Casgrain holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from San Diego State University.  She is an experienced and highly respected educator with a thorough knowledge of instructional and assessment strategies for all learners, including those from diverse and rich cultural backgrounds. Her dedication and passion in improving learning success for all students continues to have a tremendous positive impact on young people of Aboriginal heritage across our district.

Principal, Kitimat City High School

Nancy Tormene is appointed Principal of Kitimat City High School. Ms. Tormene has shown steadfast leadership assuming the Acting Principal position at Bear Valley School since April 5, 2016.  She holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Victoria in Elementary Curriculum and a Master of Education degree from the University of British Columbia in Curriculum and Instruction.  A long-time resident of Kitimat, Ms. Tormene is a team player and a strong passionate advocate for success of all learners. Her knowledge of Kitimat City High School students and families, and her reputation as an outstanding educator with deep commitment to the success of young people, will serve Kitimat City High School well.

Principal, Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School

Geraldine Lawlor is appointed to the permanent Principal position of Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School. Ms. Lawlor has provided exemplary leadership in serving as Acting Principal at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School since January 4, 2016 and is a valuable addition to the leadership and instructional team.  Ms. Lawlor holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, a Bachelor of Education degree with concentrations in Chemistry and Biology, and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  She is an exceptional educator with a thorough knowledge of inquiry and project-based learning benefiting both students and staff. Ms. Lawlor is passionate about success for all learners and brings great insight, leadership and commitment to making a continued positive difference for all the students at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School.
The Coast Mountains Board of Education extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the following administrators for their valuable contributions and efforts in their leadership roles as they have chosen to return to the classroom effective the 2016-2017 school year:

  • Andy Calhoun, currently Principal at Bear Valley School will assume a Classroom Teaching position at Hazelton Secondary School effective September 1, 2016.
  • Bill Lenuik, currently Vice Principal at the Northwest Trades & Employment Training Centre will assume a Classroom Teaching at Caledonia Secondary School effective September 1, 2016.
  • Sheila McInnis, District Vice Principal of Counselling, Kitimat will assume a Counselling Teaching position at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School effective September 1, 2016.
  • Kathy Bell, currently Acting Principal at Kitimat City High School will assume a Classroom Teaching position at Kitimat City High School effective September 1, 2016.
