CMSD82 Internal Release – Acknowledging the Loss of an Amazing Colleague, Lavern Chinn, Mtce. Helper, May 23, 2019

It is with a deep sense of loss and profound sadness that we inform employees of the passing of Lavern Chinn, Helper in our Maintenance Department on April 28, 2019. Lavern passed away surrounded by his loving family following a brief unexpected illness.

Lavern was the longest serving school district employee with 47+ years of dedicated service. He joined the school district on September 1, 1971 and worked tirelessly with passion for the school district until his passing on April 28.

Lavern took great pride in his role with the school district keeping the school sites safe and clean. His positive attitude, kindness and work ethic was truly exemplary for everyone who had the opportunity to work with him. Lavern was always quick with advice for every situation and could turn on his wonderful charm and sense of humour to make any situation better.

A Memorial Service in memory of Lavern will be held on Friday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Mackay’s Funeral Home located at 4626 Davis Avenue in Terrace.

On behalf of the Coast Mountains School District, we extend our love and deepest condolences to Lavern’s family and his many friends.

Lavern will be dearly missed by all, especially by his co-workers within the Terrace Maintenance Department and those people who had the privilege to know him personally.
